At Florida Treatment for Change we have developed our own proprietary holistic approach to experiential therapy that encourages clients to identify underlying or subconscious matters through expressive tools and actions; such as role playing, guided imagery, arts and crafts, music or animal therapy. The client focuses on individualized activities and through that experience begins to identify emotions. With the guidance of a trained mental health clinician, the client can begin to identify and investigate negative feelings as they relate to past experiences that may have been repressed.

Our clients may be exposed to the following methods of experiential therapy:

  • Acupuncture
  • Aromatherapy
  • Art therapy
  • Yoga
  • Ropes course
  • Gardening
  • Spirituality
  • Animal assisted therapy

Another type of therapy offered at Florida Treatment for Change is psychoeducational; which is a form of therapeutic intervention that combines psychotherapy and education.

Psychoeducation consists of prompting the client with information that is related to a specific area of concern (i.e. drug abuse) in concert with applying the doctrines of various therapeutic disciplines. For instance, our clinicians might use behavioral and cognitive tactics to allow clients the ability to develop an alternate response to stimuli and address any emotional distress associated with the area of concern.

  • Family dynamics
  • Stress management
  • Coping skills
  • AA/NA/CA meetings at the office (evenings)
  • Relapse prevention
  • Early intervention program
  • Alternative sanctioned program
  • Thinking for a change
  • Stages of addiction
